Beginners Guide to Intimate Waxing….
Intimate waxing is becoming a popular beauty treatment within beauty salons in Scotland. If you have never had hair removed from the pubic region, it can seem a bit daunting. However, here at Honey and Violet beauty room our waxing specialist can help. We asked our beauty therapist to answer a few common questions….
What is the difference between a Bikini and Brazilian wax?
There are four basic waxing shapes:
The bikini wax shape
A standard bikini wax is a basic shaping of pubic hair into a neat upside-down triangle shape to the edge of the panty line.
The extended bikini wax:
An extended bikini wax takes the sides of the bikini line in deeper than a regular bikini wax leaving a more defined triangle with narrower edges.
The Brazilian wax:
A Brazilian wax takes away all the hair off the bikini line leaving a small strip on the front.
The Hollywood wax:
The Hollywood wax is complete hair removal.
is it painful??
At Honey and Violet Beauty room we use Harley Hot Wax, which shrink wraps itself to the hair and not the skin so less skin irritation. This reduces the pull on the skin, thus reducing the pain, redness and lowers the possibility of any ingrown hairs. It’s fast, clean, leaves very little sticky residue and it is virtually pain free.
Also, the more you wax, the more your skin gets used to it and your hair grows back sparsely.
How long should my hair be for waxing?
Our hot wax can grab hairs as short as 1mm in length. Everyone has different hair growth cycle, but I am generally able to wax areas that have been shaved 7-10 days earlier. If you have not wax or shaved for a long period of time, you don’t need to worry.
I have sensitive skin, can I still get waxed?
Harley hot wax is suitable for use also on very sensitive areas and skins, both for hair removal and for skin conditioning.
How often do I get waxed?
We suggest every four to six weeks, but it depends on hair growth because everyone’s hair grows differently.
What after-care do I need to follow?
For 24 hours after you wax you must do the following:
• No hot baths or showers (warm water only)
• Don’t sunbathe or exercise right after your wax
• No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments
• No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)
• Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands
• Avoid swimming chlorinated pools
• Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.
